A Reminder

Don't forget what's outside.

Everything on this site is here to help while you're waiting for professional care. But regulation doesn't only happen indoors with a printed chart, real sunlight, fresh air, and the sensory experience of grass, dirt, or wind underfoot is a genuinely calming input on its own. It's not a replacement for anything here, just another tool worth remembering.

If your child tolerates it well, even a little time outside each day can help. There's no number you need to hit, some days that might be twenty minutes, other days longer, let your child's tolerance lead rather than a target you're trying to reach. If being outside is overstimulating right now, that's real information too, not a failure.

It doesn't need to be a public park or a planned outing. Your own backyard, a porch, even standing at an open door counts. Start wherever feels safe and low-pressure.

If and when it feels right, you can gradually work toward more public spaces, a quiet trail, a less crowded park at an off hour, but only at the pace that actually feels comfortable for your family. There's no timeline you're supposed to be on.
